By matching suitable food crops with the local climate patterns and soil conditions, farmers can maximize their seasonal returns. That’s what we call climate-smart farming!

About Us

FocusWise is a registered Kenyan community-based organization. We are involved in the promotion of climate-smart farming technologies, including improved varieties of cassava, sorghum, millet, and high-iron beans to help fight hunger and poverty in vulnerable communities.

Mission

At FocusWise, our mission is to empower vulnerable communities by introducing and supporting innovative agricultural practices. We aim to improve food security and enhance livelihoods through the adoption of resilient and nutritious crop varieties.

Vision

We envision a future where every community has access to the resources and knowledge needed to cultivate sustainable, productive, and nutritious food sources. Our goal is to contribute to a world free from hunger and poverty, where climate-smart farming technologies ensure food security for all.

Our projects are focused on improving food security and the economic empowerment of vulnerable communities in East Africa.

Why We Chose Cassava? Cassava Was Our First Candidate Food Crop

Apart from needing minimal moisture to flourish, cassava also successfully grows in marginal soils where other crops would not perform well. This ability to grow in poor soils and under dry conditions makes cassava a much better answer to food insecurity than maize and beans. Unlike other crops, cassava farming is cost-effective as it doesn’t require fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
